ACTION/FOLLOW-UP

Newsletter/website

Lorraine Finkbeiner became editor of the monthly newsletter beginning January , 2008.  She presented the first edition for preview which was approved and will be distributed.

Lorraine shared new ideas to encourage participation and more diverse contribution to the newsletter:

·         Using a “reporter” aspect to encourage members to identify topics and Lorraine would then write up.

·         Encourage sharing of activities in other areas than Tidewater.

·         Sharing of legislative or ethical issues in various states

We looked at content in the newsletter and website and discussed replication of some items.

Discussed continued development of website and exploring the use of blogging.

Will continue to review ways to increase participation in newsletter

CFNP Promotional materials

We discussed creating promotional materials to make available on website and newsletter; i.e. coffee mugs, t-shirts, magnets, etc.

Lorraine will look into Cafepress.com and get pricelist. This organization allows ordering and shipping directly online.

Lorraine to report back at next meeting.

PIN Ministry

Dallas Stamper has requested a projected 08-09 budget by end of January.  Would like to include CFNP in Amphitheater fundraising activities.

Dallas would like CFNP to help staff the Sunday afternoon Homeless Ministry Outreach 3-6 PM. He needs 2 NP’s to commit once a month.  It was decided that we would commit to the 2nd Sunday of each month beginning in February.

Karen suggested that Monyetta take on coordination of this schedule and contacting volunteers.

Karen will contact Monyetta to follow up on coordination of Health Outreach.

“Not One More Life”

Initiative

Karen reviewed the pilot project with NOML in March.  The organization is using CFNP to connect with local African American faith based groups for its asthma screening initiative on March 8th.

The 2 pilot sites will be St. Marks Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, Va. And First Baptist Church of Norfolk.

CFNP board and membership are encouraged to recruit additional interested pastors, health professionals and volunteers to attend an informational dinner on March 7, place to be announced.

Karen will follow up with information about dinner.  Anyone interested in attending the dinner should be directed to Karen.

Meetings

Next CFNP board meeting will be Monday January 28, 5:30 at Ann Campbell’s to work on budget and development of new chapter materials.

Next meeting will be Monday February 4 at Ann Campbell’s for dinner, fellowship and Lia Sophia jewelry fundraiser.

Board members are to investigate other non-profit organizations materials for new chapter development before board meeting.

Ann will send reminder postcards to local members for fellowship meeting.
