If you think you didn't receive a June newsletter.....you're probably right. I experienced a slight (age related, I'm sure) brain lapse and forgot to push "send" when I exited.....OOPS!!
So here it is, in all it's glory....my apologies to all!

Letter From The President

As we come to the end of our 2nd year of ministry as the Christian Fellowship of Nurse Practitioners, I want to thank all of you for your continued support and prayers. We have seen the Lord raise up an organization that is focused on encouraging and mobilizing Nurse Practitioners in their workplace ministry. We continue to set our hearts on glorifying the Lord in all that we do in the development of the ministry.

We currently have one Life Group of NP's meeting on a regular basis and they meet in Virginia. It is the vision of CFNP to raise up Life Groups of NP's throughout our Nation. There are countless testimonies from the Virginia Life Group as to how CFNP has ministered to them personally and provided prayer support for their ministry to patients and students. I want to encourage all of you to pray about gathering NP's in your area and starting a Life Group of you own.

In July we will begin our 3rd year of operation and will be having a membership drive during the months of July and August. Membership dues is only $25.00 and goes to the continued efforts to create an organization that raises up the name of Jesus among and in the midst of our profession. Your input and opinion is always important and I can be reached at CFNP@cox.net.

Blessings,
Karen Rance MSN, CPNP, AE-C

*This month we begin a series of Board Member profiles. Since it was "Letter From The President" month, I decided to spotlight Karen in two places! Next month we'll move to another Board member. I thought it might be nice for those of you further away to put some faces with those names!
*NOML-HR is trucking along and, had another asthma screening on June 28th in Norfolk. It was wonderful and many thanks to our own Monyetta Austin who worked like a champ to organize the Fair for her church!!! Yahoo Monyetta!! Please pray for us (I sit on the Advisory Board) as we solicit equipment (Spirometers! We need Spirometers!) and funds. We have no shortage of churches here in Hampton Roads who have invited us and we are proceeding on God's Grace to supply our needs.
*CFNP will be continuing our support of the PIN Ministry for the summer concert series at the Verizon Ampitheatre. We send volunteers to local concerts to sell food and drinks. Our service is free and in exchange, Dallas Stamper donates a portion of the profits to CFNP. It's hot, hot hot at the concerts and a real labor of love.
*We REALLY DO want to hear your prayer needs, opinions and thoughts....please write to us!
* I'm not certain why some of our Quick Links are not working but am trying to rectify the problem. Until then, just use the email contact if you or someone else would like to join or needs more info and we'll forward. Thanks for your patience!

Karen Rance, President CFNP

Karen is a busy mother of 4. Her oldest daughter (20) is a rising junior in college, her son (18) is entering college in the Fall and her 8yr old twin girls are entering 3rd grade. Karen's children are involved in various sports and she and her husband are avid fans.

Karen is originally from Indiana and graduated from Vanderbilt University. She is the 2nd of four children and has been here in Virginia for 20 years. Most of her extended family is in Indiana but she has a brother and his family close by in North Carolina.

Karen has been a Christian for 15 yrs and has a very active church and mission life. She has been on numerous medical mission trips (Ghana, Tanzania, Ukraine, Guatemala, India and Amazon!). She is a flutist for her church and plans on teaching a class on Women's Ministry this summer!

Professionally, Karen works full time in a primary pediatric clinic. Her passion is asthma and along with her PNP designation, holds an AE-C (certified asthma educatior) title. Karen serves on the advisory board of NOML-HR (Not One More Life - Hampton Roads) a non-profit asthma education organization. She, along with some other CFNP board members began our CFNP organization a little over two years ago. As if all that isn't enough, Karen is beginning to work on her Doctorate in August at UVA!

Karen does try to take time to recharge her batteries and reports she is an avid reader and always has a book going. Her favorite book is the Bible. Her dream vacation is anywhere in the Caribbean scuba diving with her husband. She likes vanilla ice cream and couldn't survive without coffee!

Karen's real vocation is following God's call on her life. She feels so blessed that her vocational and ministerial call are one and the same. The experiences she has had working with other Christian NP's have been the greatest joy of her life.

Quote

"I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."  (Philippians 3:14)

The word used for "press" in Philippians 3:14 carries in the meaning of "strong exertion."  Every muscle of the runner is burning.  He can see the ribbon.  He has only a few more feet to go in the race.  He must press on.
It is the same in our lives as Christians.  There are times when it just gets hard.  But it is then that we learn what it means to walk by faith and not by feeling.  You can't live on an emotional high as a Christian.  You must pace yourself in this race you are running.  You can't expect that every time you go to church, you will have some great emotional encounter with God.  Sometimes you will.  Sometimes you won't.  Growing up and learning to walk by faith are part of spiritual maturity.
